Believe it or not it happens everyday !
There is no possible way to verify what you are actually getting without physically inspecting it in person, photos,emails,history checks,guarantees are useless when it comes to buying rare collectibles as their true value depends on authenticity, original undamaged condition,on collectible vehicles especially the quality of the paintwork (new paint job doesn’t increase the value but rather decreases it instead as it’s no longer original see note 1.below), being exactly the correct model & variant, having all the correct original parts which are in top working order as many of the parts are extremely expensive or more worryingly can no longer be obtained.
Many of these have had a very troubled history with careless owners who have given them the quick fix several times which has gone undocumented.
Therefore only true experts like ourselves with the trained eye and over 30 years of experience can uncover the true story.
We say “you need to be Sherlock Holmes” 🔍 to piece the puzzle 🧩🧩 together….
The following notes below should be read in detail as none of these items can be verified without a physical inspection,the seller will not be honest about all of these or may not even notice any issues as they don’t have the adequate experience with such a vehicle or may not even have been born at the time these vehicles were new!!

As well as being specialists in all supercars, classic cars, American muscle cars, pickup trucks and JDM cars,
we are aficionados in LANCIA & SUBARU GrpA & WRC cars & many GrpB rally legends from the ‘70’s & 80’s with vast in depth knowledge spanning over 4 decades.
These are very unique unicorns with numerous pitfalls which can be a very costly mistake.
Since these cars have a complex history buying one as an investment is great but only if you get the correct ones!
These vehicles do not have a stamped vin number on the chassis like normal vehicles but instead have an alloy tag which was pop riveted onto the vehicle before each event along with the specific number plates meaning several vehicles used the same registration number plates & id/vin tags for various events at various times !
These vehicles were extensively damaged in major accidents on events by legends such as Colin McRae etc then rebuilt numerous times before being sold by the works teams to private individuals who repeated the same cycle but hadn’t the funds or original parts to rebuild them correctly therefore it’s virtually impossible to find an original specification car.
When these vehicles got severely damaged or were worn out from multiple repairs some were reshelled into standard road version bodyshells which were modified incorrectly/badly to resemble the originals meaning it’s valued at a fraction of the price!
Therefore the only way to actually verify the vehicle you are considering purchasing is the actual vehicle that was driven by a certain driver in a certain event is to physically inspect it with a forensic inspection which can only accurately be done by someone like ourselves with vast knowledge and experience, not only do we inspect the vehicle but we cross reference it with the extension database we hold and also can compile a full report on its entire history from date of manufacture, we give a full written in depth report of our findings and recommendations, then it’s your decision how to proceed.
